4 Steps to Software That’s Ready to Use

01/ Model the process

First define the business process as a state model before considering technology or code. The order is important: Process - what happens from a business perspective? Technology - how does it happen? Function - how is it implemented? This results in a formal model from which the PLC, HMI, and diagnostics are later derived.

02/  Generate PLC and HMI

Based on the model, an algorithm generates error-free PLC code (PLCopen XML) and the HMI - without any additional manual programming effort.

03/  Select the target system

Simply select the target system for exporting the PLC code, and you're done. The PLC code is generated in the Structured Text (ST) programming language and exported as PLCopen XML.

04/  Import - Cx - Start

After generation, the code is implemented in the target system. All that remains is the I/O check, and the system can be started up and commissioned using the automatically generated HMI. Virtual commissioning and software acceptance testing in a single step.

Selmo Studio is a model-based development tool for machine processes based on the Selmo standard. It is used to capture the structure, sequence, signals, safety, parameters, HMI, and diagnostics in a single model. PLC code, the HMI, and documentation are generated from this model.
