The page asserts.
The answer is here.
This website makes an argument. It cannot answer every question it raises along the way — if it did, it would no longer be an argument but a manual. The open questions are here instead, one at a time, each with an answer and a link back to the page that raised it.
Why this collection exists
Every statement has exactly one place.
When the same statement sits in five places, then after the first change it is no longer decidable which one holds. That is the same reason behavior needs a reference artifact of its own — applied to our own documentation.
The page carries the claim. The knowledge base carries the answer. Neither repeats the other, both point to the other.
The form follows from that: one article, one question, one answer. The first paragraph answers the question in the title completely — everything after it is reasoning.
Four sections,
ordered by what is still open.
Not sorted by our services, but by the question you arrive with. The order is that of a conversation: first what it is, then whether it fits, then what it costs in time and commitment — and last, what it does not do.
Orientation
What is this, briefly — and where do you read more? Behavior Reference (BR), Behavior-Centric Engineering (BCE), Behavior Defined Machine (BDM) and Process Technology File (PTF), one question each, one answer each.
Applicability
Does this fit your controller, your line, your installed base? Including what happens to existing control code and whether an existing line qualifies.
Adoption and cooperation
Order, roles, duration, commitment. Who from your team is needed and for how long — and who owns the model when the cooperation ends.
Limits
What Selmo does not do. Whether a Behavior Reference (BR) replaces functional safety, whether it replaces an acceptance test — and why Selmo is not a code generator.
Where a video shows it better, the video is there. The answer is still written out beside it — an article whose answer lives only in the video is empty as far as search is concerned.
If you already
work with it.
The older part of the knowledge base is written for users, not for decision makers: mechatronic units in detail, operating Selmo Studio, the tutorials. It is being reworked continuously.
Selmo method and standard
The formal approach used to define, evaluate and monitor behavior — purpose, scope, and the coupling of function, process and technology.
Basics and requirements
What has to be settled before the first model in Selmo Studio. Responsibility, liability and standards are part of it.
Get started
Installing Selmo Studio and the first steps in it.
Tutorials
Modelling in Selmo Studio, twelve videos along the system layers. Assumes you have read Get started.
Mechatronic units
Cylinders and valves, sensors, switches, drive and control technology, emergency stop — each unit with modelling, parameters and limits.
Two addresses are still from the time before: a German category name on the English side, and an umlaut in one address. Both get replaced in the rebuild, not carried along.
An answer here holds in general. Whether it holds on your line is decided by measurement — with a named baseline, not with a text. The collection orders the questions; each single one can only be answered on your line.
If a question stays open
Which question could you not settle here?
Go through the open one15–30 minute intro call. No offer, no presentation — just your line and the question that stayed open.
